What four genuine E46 wheels really cost in 2026

New genuine BMW rims for the E46, per wheel and as a set of four or 2+2, from what European sellers listed in October 2026, and why some sets can't be had new.

"How much for four original wheels?" is one of the first questions an E46 owner asks, and one of the hardest to answer from a single listing. Most genuine BMW rims are sold one at a time, some styles come as different front and rear wheels, and several are no longer made. This article puts together what European sellers of new genuine BMW wheels listed in October 2026, style by style, and turns it into what a whole set costs: four wheels, or two fronts and two rears.

Every price here is a dated observation. It is what the sellers' pages showed on the day each listing was last checked, between 8 and 13 October 2026, including VAT and before shipping. 1 No seller is named.

The short version

  • A full set of new genuine wheels costs from about €420 to about €2,350 in October 2026, depending on the style. 1
  • The 17-inch M double spoke, Style 68M, is the dearest set we could price: about €2,250 to €2,350 for two fronts and two rears. 1
  • Some popular sets cannot be bought new at all. No seller in our data listed a new Style 119, a new 135M front wheel, or a new 18-inch Style 71, front or rear. 1,2,3
  • Staggered styles are priced per axle. A set is two front and two rear wheels, and the two can cost different amounts. 4,1
  • Prices move between checks. In October one seller's headlight and bumper prices halved from one check to the next; the wheel prices in this article did not change at that check. 3

How we counted a set

A wheel set means four wheels for a square style, the same wheel at every corner, or two fronts and two rears for a staggered style. 4 "My E46 plan" on E46BUILD counts the job the same way, but its approximate range is wider than this article's: it also counts used offers and a seller's own complete set at its set price, and only sellers shown to you that deliver to your country. 6 For the 68M, for example, it can start at a used set. Below, we count new single wheels only: the set price is the per-wheel price times four, or two fronts plus two rears; where several sellers listed the same wheel, we give the lowest and the highest. 1

Sellers rarely list complete sets of new wheels, and E46BUILD shows a set only when a seller lists one. 5 The arithmetic here is ours, for an estimate; it is not a set anyone sells as such.

Two things stand out. The cheapest sets are three plain 16-inch styles, 54, 169 and 136, at around €110 a wheel. And the M double spokes cost two to five times as much: a set of 68M wheels new costs about as much as five sets of Style 54.

The sets you can't buy new

For three wheels owners often ask about, our data had no new genuine listing at all on the dates checked. 1

  • Style 119, the 17-inch five-spoke. One dealer's page listed it as discontinued. 2
  • Style 135M, front wheel. The rear was listed new, at €449 to €488, but no seller in our data had the front, so a new set could not be completed. 1,2
  • Style 71, 18-inch, front or rear. BMW's catalogue marks the 18-inch Style 71 rows as discontinued by the factory, and the last new 18-inch rear wheel in our data disappeared from its seller's page at the 13 October check. One 17-inch Style 71 front wheel, a different size of the same design, was listed new at €249. 4,1,3

For these, used wheels are the realistic route. In our data, one used set of four Style 68M wheels was listed at a European marketplace for about €529, two fronts and two rears. 1 Used sets mostly trade on classifieds and auction sites rather than in shops. 5

Why one price can be misleading

Single sellers. For Style 44, 136 and 88, and the 68M rear wheel, only one seller in our data listed a new wheel. One price is a data point, not a market. 1

Prices that move between checks. At the 13 October check, one seller's prices for many headlights and bumpers fell to less than half of what the same pages showed two weeks earlier, with no sale wording; the configurator shows such prices with a caution. None of the wheel prices in this article changed at that check, and none carries the caution. 3 It is still a reason to confirm any price before ordering. Earlier research had already noted the Style 44 price as much lower than other rims, without an explanation. 2

Stock against the catalogue. A dealer can list as new and in stock a rim that BMW's catalogue calls discontinued. The listing is the dealer's claim on that day. 2

Shipping. Rims are bulky, and some sellers deliver only to a few countries. The prices above are before shipping, and not every seller ships to every country. 1

What this means for planning

  1. Budget by style, not by "a set of wheels". The same job costs about €450 with a plain 16-inch style and about €2,300 with the 68M. 1
  2. For a staggered style, check both axles. A set needs two fronts and two rears, and either can be the one that is missing. 4,1
  3. If a new wheel is missing, plan for used. That is the case for the 135M front and the 18-inch Style 71 in our data. 1
  4. Confirm the price before you order, especially when it is far below the others. 3
  5. Add tyres, fitting and shipping. None of them is in these prices.

How to recognise each style, and which ones fit your body, is in "Six wheels, three families".

Notes on the evidence

Confidence. Every price is a seller's listing on a stated date, graded LOW and given as an observation, not a market price. Sizes and catalogue flags come from parts-catalogue mirrors (MEDIUM). Listings from a seller the configurator does not show are left out. The set totals are our arithmetic.

Conflicts recorded. (1) A dealer listed as new and in stock rims the catalogue calls discontinued; the dealer's claim is not adopted.

Not established. Prices in other markets; the cost of tyres and fitting; whether discontinued rims will return; used prices beyond the one listed set.

What comes next

Our E46 configurator is live: it shows which wheels fit your car and links to sellers where we've found one. Put a wheel on your car in "My E46 plan" and it shows an approximate range for the whole set from the sellers that deliver to you, used offers and sellers' own sets included, so it can differ from the new-only figures here.
